OverView
The MS DataGrid Control is excellent for the display of data in a
Grid
Format. However, when used as a Data Entry control, the DataGrid's many
drawbacks become readily apparent. In order to provide the DataGrid's
missing data entry functionality, developers have traditionally had to
turn
to expensive third-party Grid Controls. Until now.
The DataGridEnhancer provides the missing functionality of the DataGrid and makes it ideal for most Grid like Data Entry User Interfaces.
It is a lightweight ActiveX control that adds Data Validation functionality
and many other enhancements to the MS DataGrid Control. It automatically
detects the underlying Data Type of a DataGrid Column and Validates input
Data based on the Data Type. The basic Validation Functionality does not
require any code at all.
For example, if a Field is Date Type, it will check if
the entered value is a valid date. Additionally, it will present the user
with the DatePicker to choose a date from.
The DataGridEnhancer (DGE) also validates Integer, Decimal, Text and Boolean
types in various ways. Many other attributes of a column may also be specified,
like the Minimum and Maximum Allowed Value for a column, forcing a Text
Field Upper Case or Lower Case only, displaying a Custom or Foreign List
for a Column etc. The Drop Down List feature of the DGE is very rich in
functionality.
